Risk Management- Conveyor Belt Processing of Trades

WHITE SWANS -ALWAYS EXCITING TO SWIM WITH

Greed does make all of us to be attracted to all kinds of rewards or opportunities our luck or life tosses at us.We tend to develop biases and act confidently expecting positive outcome. This is our approach to life called positive approach virtues of which is in our DNA.Disappointments and failures are taken in stride as inevitable part and parcel of our life. This is indeed human nature. This behavior turns into disaster of  terrific magnitude in financial world where risk is endemic and is only constant.Reward is not mirage but oasis in the desert of risks.Ignoring or dismissing this reality is sure invitation to Skiing from the cliff.

Bell-Curve

“Invest in preparedness not in prediction. Remember that infinite vigilance is not possible.” Nassim  Nicholas Taleb.

RISK MANAGEMENT

Like everything else mass produced today to get value added products for public consumption ,Trades we enter over a period have to be  processed for us to get our expected outcome. We can not just enter trades relying on our bias born out many triggers surrounding us.This become purely subjective adventure projected into market and we become victim of our bias not that of market. In order to process our trades we need system which must have been back tested for its robustness. It has to select trades for us and should have entries and exits as most of us already know. Most of all ,the system should be smart enough to monitor the inventory of all our trades to ensure that risk is in control and within our target.Yes that is our risk profile.Normal frequency distribution of our risk and rewards over a chosen period of time can easily demonstrate this parameter from time to time. This is Risk management analysis.

RECONCILIATION FACTOR

Controlling reward is never a tension. But controlling risk  always is.A reconciliation factor  for the Risk which can not fixed as common for all but has to be customised at any given moment can track and give alarm.Any system has to process and control risk dynamically.Risks happen only when your trade goes against you.And it does so most of times contrary to our experience with rewards. So one has to focus on boring risk and you have to target cutting risk.

TRADE SAPLINGS LIKE THEY DO IN NURSERIES.

Doing business with sapling is not less lucrative as compared to being in business of Teak plantation. You tend to grow horizontally but you grow nonetheless.Remember You always have freedom to chose but you have no freedom to chose consequence.Your ability to exercise wise discretion can make or break you when executing trades.Following simple and easy to remember principle are like personal protection in processing industry to ensure best quality outcome.

BULLETS FOR MOVING TARGETS

1. Chose small trade sizes .
2.Multiple trades of small sizes using whatever edge you found out to have favourable odds gives you a bell curve of trade. This can be adjusted from time to time thereby giving you a tool to control Risk.
3.Hedging strategies.
4.Monitoring and targeting a reconciliation factor of risk which is your personal and has to be customized depending on your  risk profile.

CONCLUSION

This is exactly in line with Quality ,Health and Safety Policy and principles followed by any industry. This is systemic approach to trading. The more diligence applied, more competitive you are in trading.Just have look at Bell curve above.Trained eye can see catastrophe as well also trading opportunities.

HOW TO TAKE CRITICISM CONSTRUCTIVELY

1. Truth Hurts.

You’re not perfect at everything, and you don’t need a trophy for going to the bathroom without missing. This doesn’t mean you don’t put in your best effort, and when people offer you better methods, accept that your way isn’t always the best. Sometimes things have to be said, and if this is the first time you’ve heard it, it’s probably because this is the first time someone cared enough to tell you. Feel the love…

2. Crittin’ Ain’t Easy.

Gamers know there are tradeoffs between crits and attack/movement speed. The idea is everyone wants to hit as hard and fast as possible, but you have to balance the two to your style in order to truly win the war. Taking criticism hits hard, and you want to produce work as fast as possible to achieve your goals, but accepting that criticism, working through it with the critic, and resolving your issues quickly will raise the amount of hits you produce and your lifetime overall DPS.

3. All I’m Asking for Is Understanding.

Understand where people are coming from when both taking and giving criticism. Regardless of which side of the fence you’re on, a little compassion for the other side will ensure they know you’re on the same side and agreement is much easier than fighting. It also helps to research what the other person is saying (and perhaps gather stats to show their side instead of yours) in order to understand where they’re coming from. The quicker you start working with critics, the easier your life will be.

4. Figuratively Give It a Shot.

Don’t shoot the messenger; instead give their message a shot. Maybe they’re right, and maybe they’re wrong, but the only way you’ll ever know is by trying it out. If the criticism is truly constructive, the critic will be willing to show you the correct way by giving more than just examples of other people’s work. A real critic rolls up their sleeves and produces what they’re trying to get you to produce. If you like how it changes your work, incorporate their suggestions moving forward.

5. Don’t Be Afraid to Push Back.

Just because someone is an expert doesn’t always mean they’re right; this is especially true in creative pursuits. A video editor, for example, will tell you how important it is to have multiple camera angles, but Kevin Smith made Clerks without them. Rules are meant to be broken, but keep in mind, sometimes you really are just bad at something. Just because you said something doesn’t mean it’s entitled to be heard. You need to get on your grind, son.

6. Bluntness Is Best.

Everybody hates those who sugar coat things. I love hearing blunt and direct problems people have with me. It helps me understand how to better communicate with those I love (or play up the things that annoy the hell out of those I don’t). People would much rather hear you say, “I don’t like the way you click your nails when you talk,” than, “You should watch how you present yourself.”

7. The Facts of Life.

If someone really doesn’t like what you have to offer (or you, yourself), then there’s nothing you can do to change their mind – focus on the people who do like it instead. Don’t get too caught up in everyone liking you, because it’ll affect your self-worth in unexpected ways. Remember that real constructive criticism is based on a process you’re following. It’s not you or them that’s the problem; it’s the process.

1. GCF LearnFree

computer new

I have put this one first because there’s still a huge number of people who have no computer knowledge and don’t know how to get started in the new computer-based world. While it is ironic that you need a computer to access this site, if you have a relative or friend who needs to become computer literate, this is a great site that you can use to help them get started.

duolingo new

I love this site! It’s a language learning site that first tests you to see where your weaknesses are and then gives you lessons based on the results of your tests so that you don’t waste your time. You can learn English, Spanish, Italian and more! It is set up as a series of little games and it is very addictive! The format is very user and learner friendly. 3. Fierce Gentleman

fierce gentleman new

As soon as I read the term “Fierce Gentleman” I had to check out this site, and I love it! Gentlemanly qualities as we knew them seem to have become a bit rare these days. I believe it’s because of the changes we have experienced and the rapid morphing of cultures: it can make your head spin! We needed a new definition for the term “Gentleman.” In his articles, Andrew Long lays out what it takes to be a Fierce Gentleman and even some advice for Fierce Ladies. Fortunately, the qualities that Andrew advocates are qualities that gentlemen have had in days past and they can be brought forward to live again in this day and age.

In this confusing time of mixed messages about what is cool or good or ethical, Mr. Long lays out just what is needed for you to keep your integrity and be extremely cool at the same time.

4. The Invisible Mentor

invisible mentor new

Avil Beckford writes for The Invisible Mentor. Each month she spends hundreds of hours of researching and reading in order to bring us the most useful and enlightening information from older and perhaps forgotten writers whose works are still vital today.

What I love about Avil is that she has the idea that learning and information are not to be reserved for only those who go to school but should be made available for everyone. She also reminds us that those who are the most successful in their fields are the ones who ceaselessly go on learning with a thirsty vengeance.

Her ideas on learning, I believe, are the wave of the future. Antiquated systems of learning are being replaced by methods that teach people to think and develop judgment rather than memorize by rote. This depends on being able to read a lot and assimilate information.

On her site you will find articles, great quotes, pieces of advice and all kinds of useful information.

5. Dumb Little Man

He has now developed this website that gives you valuable basic information about how to cook. He has created videos and recipes that are easy and accessible and yet tasty and nutritious. Everyone should have rudimentary cooking skills and know how to prepare delicious food.

10 Things You Can Do If You Feel Lack Of Support

At some point, everyone feels like they aren’t getting enough support. Whether it’s support from their friends, from their family, or from someone whose opinion really, really counts (Generally they don’t. More on this momentarily.), lack of support can be a devastating feeling. The urge to scream, “You don’t understand what I’m doing/feeling/going through!” can be absolutely overwhelming. Luckily for us, there are ways to counter this tendency. These 10 things you can do if you feel lack of support will not only help you achieve more and feel better, but can also help you communicate your needs and goals better.

1) Expand your support network

Sometimes we make the mistake of trying to seek help from people who don’t know the first thing about what we’re trying to do. This leads to a situation where neither side feels good about the outcome. Going to the same friends to address the same basic problems can be just as bad. In these situations, a change of perspective might be needed. If you’re a writer, you should seek out other writers who don’t have a vested interest in you to discuss your problem with. The same goes if you’re a carpenter, a lawyer, or a computer programmer. This can put you on the right track and help you gain some new friends at the same time!

2) Sharpen your own coping skills

This is the OPPOSITE of what coping looks like.
Think for a second about how you deal with disappointment. Do you take it on the chin, or does it send you running into your bedroom with a “migraine” that lasts three days? If it’s the latter, you probably need to develop some better coping skills. Maybe you need to be a little more physical, by punching a soft pile of pillows, for example. (It is definitely not recommended that you take your frustrations out physically on the object of your frustrations. This is a great way to land in jail.) You can also try meditation, deep breathing, or walking. Sometimes we just need a little distance to reflect on a situation before we can find the best way around it.

3) Try keeping a journal.

Lack of support often comes from lack of effective communication. Write down what’s frustrating you and why you feel like you aren’t getting the support you need. Then try writing down possible solutions, such as: “Talked to Mitch about my worries about the wedding. He doesn’t like my fiancee, so he was pretty unsympathetic. Maybe talk to Trish or Richard instead.” If nothing else, the act of writing it down will eliminate some of the immediacy of the problem, letting you look at it more calmly.

4) Analyze the reason you don’t feel supported.

Most people have pretty rigid conceptual models of what can and cannot be done, and they tend to look at anything that crosses these boundaries askance. Are you trying to do something so far out of the ordinary that most people cannot comprehend it? Or are you simply asking for too much from the people around you? You can’t expect everyone else to take care of your business while you chase a dream. If you’re trying to do this, then you need to start giving back before you can expect any support in return.

5) Keep it simple

Lack of support often equals lack of communication. The other person just doesn’t “get it.” If you’re describing your great new invention in terms that would make Tesla blink and ask for clarification, the reason they don’t get it is likely that you’re overcomplicating the matter. “This device will make bread hot and crispy at extremely high temperatures extremely rapidly” is a poor way to say what you really mean. “This will toast bread in 2.5 seconds.”

6) Listen to what you’re told.

It’s entirely possible that you already have the information you need to make a decision, but you aren’t listening because it’s contrary to what you want to accomplish. If enough people tell you the same thing, it’s time to stop and mull it over. Chances are, they are speaking from experience that they are trying to help you benefit from.

7) Ask yourself if your goal is really attainable

The hardest thing in life to hear is, “You’ll never ___________ because ___________.” However, if you are told this, stop and think. Are you trying to do something that goes beyond the norm but you can realistically expect to achieve, or are you trying to do something utterly preposterous, like become a neurosurgeon even though you have palsy in your hands? Sometimes we have to switch directions or settle for something less. In this case, it’s not that your friends and family don’t support you, but they are being more realistic about how far you can go than you are.

8) Try to understand why they don’t support you.

Sometimes people say one thing, only to have someone hear something entirely different. This is where establishing a dialogue comes in. Getting to understand where the other person is coming from is a key factor in learning what you can do to obtain their support. This requires some empathy and maybe even a little salesmanship, but it’s well worth it in the end, and will strengthen your relationship, too.

9) Ask yourself what you would tell you if you were them

One of the most difficult things to admit is that we all sometimes give good advice, but are rubbish about taking it. Put yourself in the other person’s position and ask yourself, “If I saw So-and-so doing this, would I support him/her or warn against it?” This may not be a fun way to understand others, but it can help you see the issue from the other side.

10) Change your approach, your goals, your behavior, or all three

No one wants to hang around with a self-aggrandizing jerk. If you come off as arrogant, if your goal is set too high for even gods to achieve reasonably, or if you demand support and assistance instead of asking for it, it is past time to make some changes. People appreciate being asked for help, but no one likes to have their help simply assumed. Understanding how, when, and who to approach for help is important to getting the support you need to achieve your goals!
